Summary:The objective of this article was to present the results of a self-evaluation process carried out by the Nursing Program of the University of Magdalena, following the international guidelines of the regional accreditation system for university courses ARCUSUR-MERCOSUR. For the methodological approach, a documentary analysis of norms, laws, procedures, improvement plans, national and international self-evaluation guidelines was implemented. From this process, different techniques were used to collect information: institutional surveys, focus groups, interviews, among others, which finally made it possible to generate a descriptive analysis of all the evaluated aspects. The product obtained expresses the appropriation of the quality culture through the self-evaluation process, the institutional improvement plan and the expected certification from the accrediting agencies. It is concluded that the Nursing Program meets the institutional and academic requirements, the criteria of the university community and infrastructure to obtain the international accreditation for high quality granted by the ARCUSUR-MERCOSUR.
