Summary: | The global prevalence of drug-resistant pathogens that have evolved novel antimicrobial resistance mechanisms continues to pose a challenge to our capacity to manage infections. Investigation of the carbapenem resistance mechanisms was carried out for each isolate, through the use of the modified carbapenem inactivation method, PCR and the MicroScan ESBL detection test. The authors recognize several limitations of the study: only carbapenemase and ß-lactamase-related resistance was examined. [...]only E. coli and K. pneumoniae strains were selected for the purpose of the study. |
