Summary:In this study the structural study results of lightweight aggregate-filled geopolymer composite made from industrial waste generated in large quantities are presented. The typical bands of both the geopolymer and the foam glass made from silica glass are present on the spectra obtained from the FTIR spectroscopy. The open and closed pore structure characteristic of foam glass granules and expanded perlite, respectively, are well observable on the optical microscope images. The lightweight aggregates and the binder form a coherent unit. The results show that lightweight aggregate-filled geopolymer composite can be produced from the materials used in this study.
