Summary:The operation of machines during soil tillage was monitored on two farms in a sugar beet production area. It was confirmed that increasing the working length of the land significantly increases the efficiency of the machines for soil tillage and sowing. In the conditions of the Czech Republic, it is common that in large agricultural fields with variable slope, only a part of the passes is led in the direction of the contours, while a part usually significantly deviates from them. Contemporary technology makes it possible to create application maps with traffic lanes in the direction of contour lines even with variable field slope. There is a need to reconsider the way of conducting field passes on sloping land in order to increase erosion protection of the soil, i.e. by application of consistent contour land management.
