Summary: | The literature also highlighted the effects of emotional neglect and self-silencing on body mass index and OHRQoL, the importance of education for oral health in preschool and school communities, including in these educational programs children with special needs, as well [12-14]. [...]preliminary studies have confirmed the validity and reliability of CPQ8_10 in Northern Ireland and United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina, New Zeeland and Canada [8,10,1517]. To the best of our knowledge, the Romanian version of CPQ8-10 has not been published yet. 2.MATERIALS AND METHODS Ethical aspects and participants The research project was submitted and then approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi, Romania. A convenient sample of subjects participated to the study, on the basis of the following inclusion criteria: permanent residence in the North-East region of Romania (Iasi, Botosani, Neamt, Suceava, Bacau or Vaslui county); native Romanian speaker; children aged between 8-10 years; children not currently following dental treatment or not having followed dental treatment during the last month before participating in this study; children whose parents/caregivers signed an informed consent to participate in this study; children physically and intellectually capable to answer the questions of the questionnaire without needing assistance; cooperating children (those who accepted the invitation to fill in the questionnaire and to undergo an oral clinical examination). The CPQ8-10 scores are calculated as a simple sum of the response codes, separately for each domain, but also as a final global score for all 4 domains. Since there were 25 questions, the final score can vary from 0 to 100, for which a higher score denotes a higher degree of the impact of oral conditions on the quality of child's life. |
