Summary: | David H. J. Gay (not to be confused with David Gay, University of Alberta, familiar to many readers of Bunyan Studies as President of the International John Bunyan Society) has published extensively in print and audio on biblical and theological matters from a Reformed, New Covenant perspective (twenty-three texts are listed on the inside cover pages of the book under review). Gay was stimulated to write John Bunyan: Antinomian, New-Covenant Theologian, or ...? by reading Christopher Caughey's article in Bunyan Studies number 19 (2015), 'John Bunyan and Variegated Antinomianism'. The old-style sexist language - the Bible and other published works are always written to 'men' - is lamentably unselfconscious, and belies Gay's claim to be addressing a wide, non-specialist readership. |
