Summary:For decades landscaping has been largely forgotten, absent from the cities. Nowadays in most of the countries and also in Romania the landscaping design is getting a higher demand. The interest in landscaping today is not limited to the horticulturists, landscape architects it has spread to broad spectrum of peoples, who would like to bring something new, to improve their environment. The lavender it can also be listed in this very special group of plants. Lavender is an herbaceous perennial plant used in the landscape design and has gained a lot of interest in the recent years in Romania. Lavender is perhaps one of the most known and popular perennials grown worldwide, where the climate conditions are like the region. Some varieties of lavender are more suitable for perfumes, cut flowers or oil production. Lavender is a beautiful addition to just about any garden. The lavender plants can be used in many ways in the landscaping design, as hedging, topiary, spiral garden, maze, raised beds, potted, baskets. Prised for its fragrance, medicinal properties and beautiful colour, lavender has been one of the most popular herbs for centuries.
