Summary:The article makes an attempt to consider some issues of improving the legislation of the Russian Federation governing relations in the field of environmental safety, as well as issues of the treatment of production and consumption waste, civil liability for environmental damage, the main directions of development of legislative regulation in this area are considered, an assessment is given to prospects for its development in the context of modernization of environmental legislation. A comparative analysis of the legal regulation of the issue of recycling and disposal of production and consumption waste in the countries of the European Union is also carried out.
