Summary:In the past 15 years, social and emotional development of children had gained a very important role in Romanian education. The purpose of this study is to identify if and how teachers implement social and emotional learning (SEL) programs in schools and kindergartens. 120 teachers and school counselors answered to 14 items in order to measure the main implementation features, length, and results of different programs they use. Although most of them considered that SEL is very important, analysis of the data found contradictory results regarding the way teachers use and implement SEL programs with children. Implication for education, public policies, teacher training programs and research are further discussed
