Bioenergetics of sulfur reduction in the hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyroccus furiosus

The bioenergetic effects of elemental sulfur reduction on the metabolism of Pyrococcus furiosus was investigated by using energy-limited continuous cultures with maltose as the principle energy and carbon source.
