Summary:Few studies of young children's learning have been undertaken in Asian museum contexts. Museums are neither popular as part of social life for Hong Kong families nor as a social learning venue for preschool aged children. Though the Hong Kong early childhood curriculum claims to value the importance of cultural education, there is little emphasis on young children's learning in museums. This paper presents case study data generated through explorations of a group of young children's (aged 4-5 years) multiple visit experiences in the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, and provides an argument for the inclusion of museum excursions in early childhood education.
