Summary:The personality studies of those who exercise or practice sport are important in sport and health psychology.Within this context, the personality traits of men who practise bodybuilding was analysed through the 16PF-5 (Cattell, Cattell and Catell, 1993). Of the 218 participants, 32.57% (71) were competitive bodybuilders (CB), 36.24% (79) were non-competitive bodybuilders (NCB) and 68 (31.19%) were sedentary subjects (SG). The results show us that the CB are older (F= 3.867, p= 0.022) and the NCB taller (F= 3.559, p=0.03). Differences in personality factors were confirmed, with the SG scoring higher in Reasoning (F= 4.818, p=0.009), Sensitivity (F= 5.852, p= 0.003) and Abstraction (F= 5.247, p= 0.006) factors; on the other hand, the participants in the two active groups scored higher tose the SGs in the Perfectionism factor (F= 10.512, p= 0,000).
