Summary:Having a child with intellectual disability generates instability, hopelessness and overload in those who dedicate themselves to daily care, so it is important to determine the relationship between coping and the sociodemographic characteristics of the main caregiver of children with intellectual disabilities, linked to “Carlos Garbay" Specialized Educational Unit from Riobamba city. Research techniques were used, such as the survey, the observation and the psychological test. When looking for possible association between variables, the non-parametric Chi-square test was used for nominal variables, while for the ordinal the Chi-square linear tendency was used.
