Abstract We report the case of a 13-year-old boy who was admitted to our hospital complaining of abdominal pain and nausea that had begun approximately 24 hours earlier. Physical examination and laboratory tests revealed clear signs of hemolysis. After the initial supportive treatment, further hematologic studies were performed, resulting in a final diagnosis of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
