Summary:The objective of this paper is to show the role of information systems (IS) in strategic innovation, a specific form of disruptive innovation. Two main theoretical frames have analyzed the link between IS and strategy; the first considers IS as creator of a competitive advantage, the second insists on the necessity to align IS and strategy. Through a new case study, we show that that these theories are complementary and explain the role of IS in the creation and the evolution of new business models.
