Abstract Based on years of practice and survey methods of grassland resources at home and abroad, the technical problems that may occur in the survey process are analyzed, the preparatory work before survey, specific content of field survey and sample processing and analysis and specimen preparation are elaborated. [...]this paper analyzes the experience and deficiency in the process of practice survey for many years, systematically summarizes prior period preparation of grassland resources survey, key points in the survey, sample processing and analysis and digitalized processing after survey, and specific matters needing attention in the main technical operation process, in order to provide reference for the investigation of grassland plant resources in the future. The minimum requirement for input and sort of specimen information is to reflect the basic conditions of specimens, including herbarium code, specimen serial number (imposition sheet number), Latin family name, Chinese family name, Latin genus name, Chinese genus name, Latin species name, Chinese species name, de Bary, specimen type, gatherer, collection number, collection time, collection site (country, province, county), species collection zone (township, forest area), habitat, altitude, longitude, latitude, surveyor, identification date, preservation information, specimen photo number, notes, etc. 3.2.3 Sample preservation. All kinds of original field survey forms, landscape and quadrat photos, GPS data are important credentials for the review of field survey work. К the data are found to he suspicious during the review process, the reasons should be analyzed in time until the results are considered reliable and accurate. 5Conclusions Overall, combined with the national ecological security decision-making and social and economic development needs, the investigation and research of grassland plant resources in China should pay more attention to multi-disciplinary comprehensive investigation in the future, and the determination of different organizational characteristics and functional characteristics should be strengthened.
