Summary:Lay educators interested in conducting programs on folic acid and the prevention of neural tube defects (NTDs) were invited to a I-day workshop. Knowledge about folic acid, NTDs, and pregnancy was assessed before and at the end of the workshop through pre- and post-surveys. Respondents (n = 57) significantly increased overall knowledge as a result of the workshop; however, a single experience was not sufficient to increase knowledge in specific areas.
