Summary:This paper contains theoretical evaluation of creative class phenomena and its role in the post-industrial society. The aim of the paper is to develop theoretical framework for further empirical research, which will be used for creating appropriate motivation strategy for creative IT professionals in contemporary companies. Affiliation of IT specialists to creative class is proved. The research is based on descriptive research methods, selection and discussion of theoretical material and descriptive material, in context, and detailed comparison of theories in terms of their applicability. Approaches of motivating creative class are presented according to peculiarities of creative specialists. Creative IT employees, who have necessary qualification, flexibility, and opportunity to broaden their knowledge further can influence organization positively, can become organization guarantee for future development and success bringing up fresh ideas or creating innovative products or concepts. Taking into account that mobility was named by Richard Florida as one of the traits of creative class, it is important to understand what will make creative class representatives to stay in Latvia rather than leave as such employees are in high demand and they can bring up a lot of positive input in the economy of the country. The authors summarise, systemise and critically review bibliographical sources in order to choose and employ appropriate theories for further empirical research.
