Summary: | Nowadays there is a high number of educated and skilful employees who cannot get employment because of their qualification and/or education level exceeding the job requirements. Overqualification has become a hot issue in many countries. In this current research paper the main focus is on the current status of overqualification in Europe, specifically in the Baltic States. This paper analyses the trends of overqualification in the Baltic States in the context of Europe, providing its inter and cross analysis in the Baltic countries. The research presents the analysis of official statistics data and the main findings of an online questionnaire survey and interviews conducted in 2017 in the Baltic States. The main results indicate that overqualification has increased in the past years and Latvia and Lithuania have the highest overqualification rate in Europe. This research also points out the positive and negative aspects of overqualified employees. |
