Summary: | Asian individuals with "single" upper eyelids are born without a noticeable upper eyelid crease owing to insufficient or absent terminal interdigitations of levator aponeurotic fibers toward the pretarsal orbicularis oculi intermuscular septae, and/or toward the undersurface of the skin that lies along the superior tarsal border. The associated findings in the single eyelid often include a lower insertional point of fusion of orbital septum with the levator aponeurosis, a relatively greater presence of preaponeurotic fat in the lower zone of the levator aponeurosis, and an overhanging fold of skin that may rest partly on the upper eyelashes. Here, Chen shares how he performed the eyelid crease blepharoplasty, or aesthetic Asian blepharoplasty, by way of an external incision approach. |
