Summary:The study will provide a scientific basis for quality control of Smilacis glabrae rhizome. 2 Instruments and materials Waters Acquity UPLC H-Class ultra-high-performance liquid chromatograp ( American Waters Corporation) ; METTLER AE240S electronic analytical balance (Mettler-Toledo Instruments (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ); KQ-5200E ultrasonic cleaner (40 kHz, and 250W, Kunshan Ultrasonic Instruments Co., Ltd. ) ; Milli-Q Ultra-pure Water Purifier (American Millipore Company) ; all control substances were bought from Chengdu ConBon Biotech Co., Ltd. and included astilbin (a), neoastilbin (b), isoastilbin (c), neoisoastilbin (d), engeletin (e), ad resveratrol (f), all these active components had purity over 98%. Acetonitrile, methanol, phosphoric acid, and ultrapure water were used ( all organic reagents were chromatographic grade ).Expeámental mateáals, bought or collected from different areas, were identified by Professor Zhang Hao from West China School of Pharmacy of Sichuan University as dry rhizome of Smilax Glabra Roxb. 3 Methods and results 3.1 Chromatographic conditions Chromatographic column: 5 g powder of Smilacis glabrae rhizome with number (4), weighed 9 pieces, and divided 3 groups with 3 pieces in each group, add! each group with proper volume of control solution ( equivalent to 80%, 100%, and 120% of the control solution), prepared the sample solution according tt the preparation method of test solution, injected 2 jxL sample, and calculated the sample recovery rate and RSD of the tested component, as listed in Table 2. According to provisions of 2015 Chinese Pharmacopoeia, the content of astilbin in Smilacis glabrae rhizome should be not lower than 0.45%, but the results showed that only one batch in the 10 bathes completely conformed to this provision, one batch was close to this provision, and the rest batches were not up to this provision.
