Summary: | In the Varano lagoon 9 species and 1 genus of the bivalvia were identified. Out of these, 5 species and 1 genus are indigenous: Abra segmentum, A. prismatica, Loripes lucinalis, Cerastoderma glaucum, Gastrana fragilis, Mytilaster spp., and 4 Non-Indigenous Species (NIS): (Arcuatula senhousia, Anadara transversa, A. inaequivalvis, Ruditapes philippinarum). The NIS were 98% of the total number, corresponding to 93% of the total wet weight. The most abundant species were A. senhousia (89%) and A. segmentum (4 %). |
