Summary:RATIONALE Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease that predominately affects women of childbearing age and is associated with smooth muscle cell infiltration and cystic destruction of the lung tissue. X-ray computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard for the structural imaging of LAM cysts; however, little is known about the ventilatory function or airspace microstructure of early LAM disease.
