A67 BREAKDOWN: THE CELLULAR CONTRIBUTION TO PULMONARY HYPERTENSION: Camkii Is Necessary For Increased Proliferation And Migration Of Pulmonary Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells In Pulmonary Hypertension

Methods: PASMCs were isolated from male Wistar rats exposed to the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor inhibitor SU5416 plus 3 wk of 10% oxygen followed by 2 wk of normoxia (SuHx model), and control rats exposed to vehicle and 5 wk of normoxia. Summary:Methods: PASMCs were isolated from male Wistar rats exposed to the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor inhibitor SU5416 plus 3 wk of 10% oxygen followed by 2 wk of normoxia (SuHx model), and control rats exposed to vehicle and 5 wk of normoxia. Results: SuHx rats developed severe PH as measured by increase in right ventricular systolic pressure and right ventricular hypertrophy, as well as presence of pulmonary vascular remodeling including medial thickening and vaso-occlusive lesions.
