D30 NEW INSIGHTS INTO OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA PATHOGENESIS: Classical Heritability Of Upper Airway Anatomy In Twins

Summary:Given this existing evidence that underlying genetic factors may determine the development of UA soft tissue and craniofacial structures, we hypothesized that their 3-dimensional sizes obtained via MRI would be more similar in monozygotic twins than dizygotic twins. With Amira software version 5.2.2, 3-dimensional volumes of UA soft tissues and measurements of craniofacial angles, distances, length/height and areas were measured. 2 We used the classical approach to assess broad sense heritability (h ; the proportion of phenotypic variability due to genetic factors) of UA 2 anatomic phenotypes.
