Summary:The Industrial Engineering program at Texas A&M University-Commerce is in the final stage of developing a modularized Human Factors & Ergonomics Laboratory (HFEL) design to incorporate four distinct application areas. Each module is designed to serve one primary function, yet the overall laboratory will be reconfigurable, thus allowing individual modules to evolve as technology and industry requirements change. The HFEL configuration will enable faculty and student research teams to address current instructional program requirements and to integrate new research opportunities as they arise. This paper will describe the four basic laboratory configurations, and selected human factors/ergonomics scenarios will be identified. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
