Summary:Decision-making in an attribute inspection process is very difficult and product quality is based entirely on subjective evaluation by the operator. It is more common to make errors in manual inspection where in the product quality is based on operator judgment, which is fuzzy and the acceptance-rejection criterion becomes difficult. This paper presents a decision-making system based on fuzzy logic for inspection of a component "pinion" manufactured by gear hobbing process. The proposed system improves the decision-making process, outgoing quality, and reduces manufacturing and defect costs. The system performance is evaluated by conducting an experimental run.
