Summary:Many corporations rely on management training programs for the development of future leaders. Management training may involve a rotation between areas such as production, sales, and engineering. This exposes trainees to important operational areas, and provides opportunities to develop relationships while forming a "big picture" of the organization. Few programs include a rotation in the Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Department. This paper serves as a petition for organizations to include the HSE Department as a required rotation. It outlines the unique benefits of spending time in the HSE Department such as learning how to influence employee behavior. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
