Summary:A solution to waste generated in increasing amounts, appeared over 35 years ago when alternative fuels started to be used worldwide. Saving the significant amounts of fossil fuels represent an important advantage of using these fuels. Petroleum wastes are generated from current activities of oil industry as well as from remediation activities of historical petroleum ponds. The study aims an assessment of carbon monoxide emissions generated from the combustion of classic and alternative (oil sludge and sawdust) solid fuels in a clinkering installation. The nature and ratio of fuel used can influence the level of carbon monoxide emissions.
