Summary:This article identified the knowledge sharing, as a strategy resource of the Knowledge Management from municipal organization of municipal direct public administration of Curitiba and São Paulo, in Brazil, and in the municipality of Braga, Guimarães and Porto, in the North Region of Portugal. It's a research of the Qualitative type that counted with the total participation of 5 City Halls from 2 countries of the studied cases. Consequently, a questionnaire was applied as a instrument of collect which was subdivided into eight blocks. From 5 city halls researched in Brazil and Portugal, the three Portugal's organizations had a perception that was necessary to have, in any way, he Knowledge Management, while, in Brazil, in Curitiba, the Knowledge Management was already part of the strategic planning of the organization, and, in São Paulo, this strategy was not a priority. As to the practices of the Knowledge Management, was verified that the city hall that has more results is the one from Porto, while, in Brazil, Curitiba is ahead. As to obstacles to the Knowledge Management implementation, the cities that presented bigger difficulties were Braga and Guimarães, in Portugal, for not being a priority and for the lack of commitment from the directors; in Brazil, was São Paulo, by the discontinuity of the implementation process of the Knowledge Management. Therefore, the city halls that most showed having the practices of Knowledge Management and use the strategic process from municipal public organization was the city of Porto, in Portugal, and Curitiba, in Brazil.
