Summary:In spite of the relatively large number of antifungal drugs, treatment failures are many. Most of commercial molecules are inefficacies. In order to contribute in the fight against these diseases, our research team tested four different extracts of Terminalia catappa linne on the in vitro growth of Candida albicans. The results show that Candida albicans is sensitive to the extracts tested. The most active fraction is F12 (CMF = 5µg / mL) and the aqueous extract is the less active (CMF = 780 mg / mL). The phytochemical screening of Terminalia catappa linne has revealed the presence of triterpene belonging to the saponins group, which would be responsible for the antifungal activity of the fraction F^sub 12^.
