Summary:Translation from original language as provided by authorChlorophenols (CPs) have recently been of great concern because of their extreme toxicity and persistency in the environment. The integrated photocatalytic - biological oxidation technology is becoming a promising alternative treatment process for the removal of the type of organic pollutants from wastewater. Photocatalytic oxidation as pretreatment process can effectively reduce the concentration and toxicity of CPs in aqueous media, then biological oxidation treatment degrades deeply the pollutants and intermediates of effluent with good biochemical quality in subsequent procedures. The combination greatly accelerated the removal efficiency of CPs and improved the quality of effluent. In this study, the sequential visible-light driven photocatalysis and laccase-catalysis treatment for the combined chlorophenols (2-CP, 4-CP, 2,4-DCP, 2,4,6-TCP, PCP) in aqueous solution was evaluated.
