Summary:This study evaluates the accessibility at Fundação Espaço Cultural da Paraíba (FUNESC) considering the adaptation made on the infrastructure of its many sectors to attend people with special needs. It analyses the accessibility options that are available in the physical spaces of FUNESC to users with some deficiency and investigates if the standardization of sectors follows the Norm 9050 of ABNT and the Law 5.226/2004. It also aims to verify the accessibility of FUNESC in the physical spaces based on the condition list of accessibility from the Accessibility Commission of CREA-SC. This is a descriptive-exploratory research, with a qualitative approach. The procedure observes the progress made on the range of accessibility and presents the step by step of some sectors of the referred Foundation, what is offered about the access to the main culture and information environments and the adaptations to receive people with special needs. As a theoretical approach, it presents the concept of deficiency and the characteristics of people with some limitation. The study highlights that in the context of rights of people who need these adaptations, there is still a lot to be gained. It finds that the institution still presents some barriers that difficult the accessibility. It also proposes some necessary changes to improve the accessibility and emphasizes the importance of the results, in relation to the already adapted sectors and to the improvements that are desired about the accessibility at FUNESC.
