Summary:According to the European Commission research data in 2009, education in European countries is subject to many competing demands that have an influence on the organization and content of arts education. Increasing globalization has brought both benefits and challenges, including those arising from increased international competition, migration and multiculturalism, advancements in technology and the development of the knowledge economy. These developments pose a number of challenges for arts education management, as evidenced by the debates within policy and research. Regarding OECD report, "Managing Arts Schools today" in 2003 art schools today are facing many challenges. Like other education institutions, arts schools are confronted with problems related to competition, funding, research, internationalization, quality assessment. Particular for arts schools is the specialist nature of their activities, which means they face additional issues. The role of the action competence of the music school head has increased with its influence on music school students and learning process on the whole. Therefore, the competence and its concepts were chosen as main objects for the research in the context of student-centred paradigm. The aim of this paper is to study and analyse action competence of the music school head in the context of student-centred paradigm. To achieve the aim the previous research and scientific literature were studied.
