Summary:this study attempts to evaluate the microbiological quality of broiler litter from intensive systems in the region of Rabat - Salé- Kénitra, Morocco. This in order to predict the toxicological risk that can induce this type of waste on the hygienic quality of chicken meat, and to focus on the potential risks of pollution of soil and water resources. It consists in detecting the presence of Staphylococcus aureus in broiler litter. This potentially pathogen was isolated from 300 samples of broiler litter collected during the period from March to August 2015. The overall prevalence of S. aureus recovered from the 300 samples analyzed was 16 % and the average load of contamination was 2.17 log10 CFU/g. The contamination of poultry litter by S. aureus reveals that good hygiene practices are faulty and there is a lack of health monitoring in the poultry sector. For good safety and better hygienic quality of broilers, it is necessary to have access to good hygiene practices and continuous microbial control in livestock buildings.
