Summary:The aim of this paper is to analyze achievement motivation and motivational orientation by students' sex and educational level. The research sample consisted of 228 students (121 boys and 107 girls) aged between 10 and 15 (M=12.31; SD=1.61). We used the Achievement Motivation in Physical Education Test (AMPET) and the Goal Orientation in Exercise Scale. The results showed higher levels of ego orientation and perceived motor competence in boys and secondary school students as well as higher levels of task orientation and anxiety about failure and stress in girls and primary school students. Moreover, greater orientation towards the ego will produce higher levels of perceived competence while a task orientation will produce higher levels of commitment and dedication in sport.
