Summary: | London: Dr Williams's Centre for Dissenting Studies, 2013, online at http://www.english.qmul.ac.uk/drwilliams/pubs/dictionarv.html Since its establishment in 2004 as a collaboration between the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary, University of London, and Dr Williams's Library, London, the Dr Williams's Centre for Dissenting Studies has transformed the study of early modern Puritan and Nonconformist history and culture. Drawing on the Library's unrivalled manuscript collections and holdings of early printed books, and with the support of its Trustees, under the leadership of David Wykes and Isabel Rivers, and then of James Vigus, the Centre has initiated, supported and promoted research and editorial projects and has established highly-regarded programmes of seminars, workshops and conferences. In view of this record, it is a matter of the greatest regret to all early modern scholars, and to Bunyan Society members in particular, that the closure of the Centre was announced last autumn; the partnership between the Library and Queen Mary was formally dissolved at the end of 2015. |
