Summary: | [...]researchers face considerable costs, from both a time/logistic and economic standpoint, in order to enroll study participants, collect data, and analyze blood samples. [...]studies necessarily focus on simple models, whereas bigger samples are needed, in order to investigate more complex relationships (e.g., multiple mediators models). [...]as pointed out in previous studies, high-NA individuals may simply respond negatively to self-report measures of job stressors, such as ICW (i.e., NA may affect the measure of ICW, rather than the construct itself; Williams et al., 1996). [...]in order to reduce possible biases, the relationship between NA and ICW was estimated using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with latent variables, thus controlling for measurement error. [...]in our opinion, future studies should investigate the mechanisms underlying the interaction between job stressors (such as ICW), specic stressful life events, and biomarkers of stress, rather than simply controlling for non-occupational stress in work-related stress research. |
