Summary:This qualitative study focuses on information management in academic research regarding Public Policies for Sport. The objective was investigating the themès incidence on academic research. The study consisted of literature review on the subject, as well as of exploratory research, which was developed at CAPES Journals Portal, where the studies were analyzed based on Thematic Content Analysis Technique and pooled by 3 thematic axes: 1- Scientific Impact, 2- Methodological Approach and 3- Studies' Themes. The results of the 1st axe indicate that the articles were published predominantly on 3 journals, with QUALIS A2 and B1 at field 21- Physical Education. The 2nd axe's results show that all articles were of a qualitative nature with descriptive analysis methods. The articles used primarily field, documental and bibliographic research. The most common instrument was interviews. Regarding the 3rd axe, the most common themes were evaluation of public policies and sport and leisure programs, and theoretical discussions regarding the Public Policies for Sport. Professional actuation on public politics and the society participation on the implementation of sport programs were also themes observed, but with less incidence. The small number of research found shows that little attention is given to this relevant field. There is also the need for new research focuses, in order to understand how the information management for public policies for sport happens.
