Summary:Fungi are organisms present in daily life and, therefore, it is necessary that this issue be addressed more effectively during elementary school. In this work, a sequence of activities about fungi is shown to be developed in basic education. First, a discussion of the importance of the practical activities in science teaching, are then exposed five activities in fungi, developed by students of the seventh grade in a public school in Palmeira das Missões, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The activities have different approaches that emphasize teamwork and playfulness with the goal of providing a better development of the theme. The activities have been proposed by undergraduates of Biological Sciences, the Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID)-UFSM. At the end of the workshop, it became clear that each subject has different ways of learning, so it is essential that educators use in their teaching practices, different methodologies in order to contemplate the vast numbers of learners.
