Summary: | The purpose of this basic interpretive qualitative study was to explore the factors that motivate nontraditional learners with dyslexia to pursue second degrees. The two women and seven men who participated in the study were enrolled in or had completed second degrees in eight fields of study at six nationally accredited institutions in five states. Their experiences were collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews and coded and categorized for further analysis. The four themes that emerged from the analysis as motivational factors for pursuing second degrees included: Aspirations, Career Objectives, Education Objectives, and Life Changing Events. |
