Abstract This text focuses on the last part of the theoretical production of León Rozitchner, in which he assesses the structuring myth of our culture: By means of a Freudian interpretation of Saint Augustin's "Confessions", Rozitchner retakes in an original way the Marxist idea of criticism of religion as the presumption of every criticism. [...]we show that in Rozitchner's work, the will to construct a theory of the subject and the criticism of culture is the result of a perennial reflection on identity in itself. El filósofo argentino se preguntaba qué otra cosa le quedaba por hacer a este "sin tierra" sino alcanzar su única materialidad disponible, la materialidad abstracta y privada de los bienes y el dinero, en un intento absurdo por totalizar la unidad anhelada en la materia a partir de la posesión privada de las partes. ¿Y no se nos presentaba de este modo al judío como una metáfora de todo ser humano bajo los términos del capitalismo, hombres y mujeres despojados, más temprano que tarde, intentando totalizar la unidad anhelada en la "mater-ia" a partir de la posesión privada de las partes, del cómputo y el cálculo de los intereses? ¿No era el judío -según la advertencia de Rozitchner- un síntoma primario de la destrucción producida por la lógica capitalista, una metáfora de la inhumanidad global, un caso testigo que no haría sino generalizarse, el espejo que mostraba las propias miserias, el propio destino temido y odiado?
