Summary: | The State of Michigan has considerable history when it comes to pumpellyite. In Jun 2013, pumpellyite specimens were collected from a small manganese mine located near Copper Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan. Known variably as the "Manganese mine" or "Manganese exploration," the site was test-mined by the Cambria Iron Company (1881-1883), during which 1,200 tons of manganese ore was removed (Clarke 1974). |
