Summary: | The locus for a recessive resistance gene to permethrin on the third chromosome was determined in a Danish 228e2b strain and also in a Japanese Akagi PP5 strain of the housefly. The resistance gene (r) was calculated to locate at the right side of 40.5 unit from the locus of a visible marker pw (pointed-wing) in the former strain and 42.4 unit in the latter strain, respectively. Thus, the r genes in both the strains seemed to be allelic with each other. Judging from their location on the third chromosome and from some physiological properties to insecticides, they might also be allelic to kdr (knockdown-resistance) gene already known, or at least, they are located very close to the gene. |
