Summary:The effect of increased distance on basketball jump shots performed by children was analyzed. Fifteen children ( 12 years old and with 1 year-3 years of experience) were analyzed cinematically (2D, 100Hz, saggital plane) when they performed basketball jump shots. The study found that as the distance increased, there was a decrease in shot accuracy. Low release height, small release angle, and great release velocity, modified functionally for changes in movement control parameters, were suggested as the main factors that reduced shot accuracy as distance was increased.
