Abstract Nowadays it is very important to review some language phenomena from the point of the functional - semantic view. The functional-semantic field of the participle in English language is considered in the article. This explains the necessity of intercultural approach to teaching and learning foreign languages, widely acknowledged nowadays. Functional - semantic analysis is of great significance for studying processes connected with the development of English grammar system; revealing different factors which favor for the development of conceptual sphere of the national language. The purpose of the work reviewed is to analyze functional and semantic peculiarities such grammar phenomenon as the participle. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
