Summary:Nowadays it is very important to review some language phenomena from the point of the functional - semantic view. The functional-semantic field of the participle in English language is considered in the article. This explains the necessity of intercultural approach to teaching and learning foreign languages, widely acknowledged nowadays. Functional - semantic analysis is of great significance for studying processes connected with the development of English grammar system; revealing different factors which favor for the development of conceptual sphere of the national language.
