Summary: | This chapter highlights lizards. It begins by looking at agamid lizards, including the Peter's rock agama, the Indo-Chinese Bloodsucker, the Variable Bloodsucker, and the Butterfly Lizard. Populations of the Peter's rock agama in the United States were derived from the pet trade and have been established in southern Florida since the mid-1980s. Subsequent dispersal through intentional release is common and often in disparate locations. The chapter then considers chameleons, casque-headed lizards, anoles, and true geckos. It also examines sphaerodactyl geckos, iguanas, wall lizards and lacertas, curly-tailed lizards, and horned lizards. Finally, the chapter studies eugongylid skinks, sun skinks, sphenomorphid skinks, ameivas, and monitor lizards. |
