Formation of C sub 2 + hydrocarbons in CH sub 4 /O sub 2 diffusion flames with Cl sub 2 , CH sub 3 Cl, or HCI additives

The reactions of CH{sub 4}/O{sub 2} mixtures with Cl{sub 2}, CH{sub 3}Cl, or HCl have been investigated by means of diffusion flames quenched by jets of an inert cold gas. These results are quanitiatively interpreted by means of a free-radical reaction mechanism.
