Summary:At CERN the ISO's communication oriented model proved to be efficient for use in a demanding data acquisition environment, the addition of a standard calling sequence being required for the portability of the code. Together with Remote Procedure Call techniques, this has allowed the free migration of real-time modules between microcomputers and front-end embedded processors. At the same time, a user-friendly environment is available for hardware debugging. (AIP)
